A Brilliant Wedding: Thomas and Christina (1 of 3)

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

homas and Christina’s wedding took place on a picture-perfect autumn day in October the historic Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville, CT.  The guests were greeted with hot apple cider and warm oatmeal cookies upon arrival and enjoyed the sunshine while listening to prelude music by the Rosamund Trio.  The inn was decorated from head to toe with fall touches like cornstalks, brightly colored mums and pumpkins to showcase the autumn theme.  Sandra Downie and her hairstylist, Karen, took care of making the bridal party look absolutely stunning.  Photos by Rick of New Image Photography – more to come from this gorgeous autumn affair!

Florals to Drool Over: Rountree Flowers

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Check out these absolutely breathtaking flower arrangements from Jessie at Rountree Flowers. Yes, that’s Rountree – not Roundtree – she named her business after her Grandfather, Herman Rountree, an accomplished illustrator from Rhode Island.  Seems as though Herman’s talent was handed down to Jessie – I’m absolutely in love with the second bouquet – such unique colors!

Inexpensive Glass Vases

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

If you’ve been trolling the internet day and night for beautiful glass vases that don’t bust your budget – troll no more!  Check out CYS Excel.  Yes, their website looks a little shady, but you get great customer service, prompt delivery and good quality products.

They have all types of glass vases from tower vases to huge cylinder vases to giant glass jars for your candy bar at really really great prices.  It’s a bargain hunter’s (and event planner’s) dream!  One last tip – many times their website will say they’re sold out of an item…try giving them a call directly to see if they do have it in stock.  Chances are they have it and the website just hasn’t been updated yet!

  1. Book a private wine tasting and lesson with a sommelier at a wine bar (Try: Ayza Wine Bar in Midtown)
  2. Reserve an art gallery for the evening (less expensive than you may think!) and have a “floor picnic” complete with wine, a blanket surrounded by candles and great music (Try: Hosfelt Gallery on 36th between 10th and 11th)
  3. Hire a personal chef to come to your house and cook a gourmet meal.  (Like cooking?  Turn it into a class as well!  Check out Home Cooking NY)
