Central Park Proposal, Part 1 of 2

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

When I received Roy’s heartfelt email all the way from Indiana with his wish to create a perfect, classic NYC proposal for Michele, it was an honor to help make it come true. We chose the Ladies Pavilion in Central Park for the location because it holds a very special meaning for Michele.

And, since she is all about the “moment,” we designed the proposal around the concept of creating an art gallery of their love story. We used cream-colored french memo boards to display cards, photos and mementos of their lives together so far and invited 2 professional vocalists to perform Michele’s favorite songs from West Side Story.

The pavilion was decorated to reflect the festive holiday season with the help of the talented and kind Juan from Juan M. Villanueva Designs.  The garland was made from winter foliage, evergreens and accented with holly berries, and the entrance was framed by bright red amaryllis. Stay tuned for more show-stopping photos from Zlatko Batistich!

Engagement Pics? Engagement VIDEO!

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

I came across this totally unique engagement video by Axioo this morning on Rock and Roll Bride and just had to share it with you!  Making your photos into a video is a great new idea and a fun way to get some extra mileage out of your engagement pictures…something to show on a loop during cocktail hour? maybe even after dinner?

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Escort Card Tree Challenges

Monday, December 14th, 2009

We love trees and branches as a dramatic touch for any event.  But, when it comes to escort cards, hanging tags on a tree isn’t the best route.  Since it’s not in a logical, alphabetical order, guests won’t be able to “grab & go” and it will create a bottleneck.

If you have your heart set on an escort card tree, split it up into a few trees and label them with ranges of letters (i.e. A-L, M-P, Q-Z, etc.).  Or, you can use the tree concept to display special photos and mementos.

Drink Calculator for Holiday Parties

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

If you’re hosting a holiday party this season, Evite’s drink calculator is a must have! Enter in the number of hours your party will last and the guest count and the drink calculator will tell you how much beer, wine and spirits you’ll need.

Extra tip: always buy one extra case of beer or bottle of wine as your ace in hole (or for an after-party drink for yourself!)
