This lovely couple is planning a gorgeous wedding this fall in New York City at Le Parker Meridien. The color palette is a progression of pure white for the ceremony to an ice blue for the cocktail hour and a bold navy/midnight blue for the reception accented with metallic touches. We’re focusing on texture and color saturations to make things really stand out. Enjoy!

Inspiration Board: Kyla & Jordan’s Chic Wedding
Monday, June 29th, 2009Carol & Ed’s Shabby Chic Centerpieces
Monday, June 22nd, 2009Carol & Ed’s wedding date is fast approaching and we recently stopped by to see the super-talented, always inspired Glenn of Stem & Company to see the sample of their centerpieces. As you can see, the use of a variety of different vessels and the mixture of textures and hues really makes the centerpiece exude that “shabby chic” theme. The groom’s mother especially loved delicate sprig that was added to each place setting!
Linens shown are courtesy of Laurie of Cloth Connection, it was a tough decision between the linen shown here and a damask print but in the end, the violet pintuck you see below was the winner. We are so excited to be part of Carol & Ed’s special day!
More Non-Floral Centerpieces
Monday, April 27th, 2009Here are some more non-floral centerpieces for the hosts that want a show-stopping centerpiece without flowers! The button jars really lend a vintage-y detailed look – perfect for a casual affair like a baby shower or bridal shower. The book centerpieces are more old-world and lend themselves more toward a semi-formal event such as a cocktail reception or networking event.

Linens to Make Your Colors Pop!
Tuesday, March 17th, 2009One of the best decisions a bride/groom/host can make to really make their event look “custom” is to have specialty linens. For those who are regular watchers of Platinum Weddings or any of the other reality shows, you’ll notice that this is an element that is always included in their decor! And, renting of 1 tablecloth per table is surprisingly affordable! Take a look at the photos below to see the difference colored linens make in the look and feel of your wedding or event.
A Brilliant Wedding: Thomas & Christina (Part 3 of 3)
Sunday, March 15th, 2009The personalities of the financial controller bride and NYPD sergeant groom really shone through in their reception choices. Favors were scrolls noting that a donation was made in their guests’ name to the American Cancer Society in honor of Christina’s late mother. The featured dinner entree of Guinness-braised beef was inspired by their shared Irish heritage, their unique cake topper displayed their fiesty nature and their love was reflected in the romantic centerpieces consisting of giant hurricane vases filled with wine colored candles and classic rose petals in autumn hues surrounded in tealights.
Thank you to the happy couple for letting us be part of your special day! A warm congratulations from all of us at Brilliant Event Planning!

Not Your Average Tablecloth
Friday, September 5th, 2008For those hosts and hostesses whose tastes lean more towards personal, vintage and unique: we suggest choosing vintage tablecloths for each table instead of the average white linens or custom-designed ones. We adore the idea of a small, intimate wedding that features different vintage tablecloths in coordinating colors.
The idea also lends itself to using different sizes and shapes of tables which really makes your event look more personal. Check out Etsy for a good source of pretty vintage tablecloths and see below for our suggestions for an event with a red color palette. These inspirations are perfect for afternoon weddings, events taking place at a winery or small inn or anything where a personal touch will go a long way.
