Today’s post is courtesy of the men’s style guru of NYC, Julie Rath of Rath & Co. She knows all the best places to find the perfect attire for your groom, no matter what his style.
Every groom should look dashing at his wedding. If the dress code permits, ditch the tux in favor of a well-chosen, perfectly-fitting suit that you can wear for job interviews or other important events. It’s a wise use of your wedding budget, and all guys look fantastic in a well-fitted suit. Here are some top tips on suiting up your wedding:
- Color: A navy or grey suit with a white shirt and black shoes are excellent options. If you’re not asking your groomsmen to buy the same exact suit as yours (a great way to build goodwill), you should give them guidance on color. In this situation, opt for navy because if you just tell them, “buy grey suits,” you’ll end up with all different shades and patterns. Black can work too, but it’s a strong color that not everyone looks good in, so go with the easier-to-wear navy.
- Time of Day: If your wedding is a more casual, daytime affair, you can wear a navy blazer, shirt, and tie with khaki, grey or seersucker pants. To look really pulled together with this option, match the metals of your belt buckle and watch to the buttons on your blazer. Wear gold buttons with a gold buckle and a gold watch. With silver-tone buttons, opt for silver accessories.
- Ties: Neckwear provides a nice way to coordinate with the color the bridesmaids are wearing and with the color scheme of the overall event. Look for ties that pick up on colors that will appear elsewhere in the wedding. If you’re wearing a suit and you’d rather stick to a more classic and simple style for yourself, try a long white or silver tie, and let your groomsmen do the color thing.

Denise and Adam truly had a unique vision for their invitations. With the help of their talented friend, Nestor, and the design skills of Kayleigh Jankowski, this couple selected invitations that not only reflect a clever wedding logo (DnA), but that also showcase the elegance and refinement of their day. We can’t wait for their July winery wedding! Printing and paperie courtesy of Cards and Pockets and thanks to Abigail Hancock for the gorgeous calligraphy!

We couldn’t resist sharing these final shots of Lorraine & Dave’s big day. We brought in the Cold Stone Creamery team to feature an ice cream station…it was a huge hit! Another highlight of the evening was their first dance – a choreographed dance of “New York, New York” mixed with “Dirty Water” that dazzled their guests and really set a fun tone for the evening. And finally, a private moment shared between the newlyweds in the wings of the theater. Congratulations Lorraine & Dave!

Lorraine & Dave’s reception was a dramatic Spring Soiree filled with shades of salmon and green at the Millennium Broadway’s Hudson Theater. The garden-inspired centerpieces from Rountree Flowers highlighted blush-colored peonies – an ideal bloom for this spring wedding design! The escort cards were on a show-stopping bed of pave flowers – a mixture of spider mums, hydrangea and roses. Guests enjoyed a caramel apple favor for their “Big Apple” wedding symbolizing a donation to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering foundation made by the couple. The entire stationery suite was designed by the talented Kayleigh Jankowski and printed by Cards and Pockets and included a hand-drawn rendition of the cathedral and NYC skyline.
We still have one more set of amazing images from this special day, stay tuned!

This adorable and fun-loving couple was married at the famous St. Patrick’s Cathedral a few weeks ago. We created a “Spring Soiree” concept featuring a color palette of salmon and green. Rountree Flowers provided the delicate florals and these great shots are by the lovely Jenny Boyle of Jennifer Davis Photography. Hair styling from the fantastic FaceTime Beauty Concierge team and makeup by Jamie Brammer. Photos of their reception including their scrumptious Cold Stone Creamery station to follow!
