Summer Wedding Inspiration

Guess what? Paperless Post asked us to share some of our favorite summer wedding inspiration with you to potentially inspire future designs!

As simple as it may sound, there is no better inspiration for a summer wedding than summer itself. Summer - or l’ete as the French call it - means picnic baskets and lemonade and days by the pool. It means fresh fruit at the farmer’s market and this summer we’re all about taking inspiration from our citrus cravings. From half-orange sorbets and lemon-filled vases to watermelon canvas totes to fit welcome gifts for guests, we can’t get enough of all that juicy Vitamin C. It’s fresh, fruity, fun, and can be spun anyway you want. And the fact of the matter is? No one does color better than nature herself.

It’s a midsummer night’s dream and we’re looking toward the fragrant bohemian notes of Scandinavia. Think lush flower crowns of dark blooms and milky leaves, and exquisite white gowns of hand-embroidered lace and tiny beads. Envision flower walls of white chrysanthemum and pink peonies and layered cakes topped with strawberries as red as the rose. There is something magical and mesmerizing about this ethereal contrast of dark and light - and we can’t get enough!

We love the idea of old-school romance, but it doesn’t hurt to take a few ideas from our times. It is the twenty-first century after all! We’re talking about wedding sites for your guests (go green on the RSVP?), and cell phone charging stations (those electronics need some fuel too!). We mean Fujifilm instant cameras for a guestbook and #hashtags for the big day.

These are just a few of our 2015 summer favorites! What are yours?

Mixed Bridesmaid Bouquets

The bridesmaids from Georgia and Chris' Wedding inspired us! Each bridesmaid had their very own bouquet, which spoke to the individuality of each girl. This is definitely a do! Photo courtesy of: Joshua Brown Photography

Coaster-Inspired Wedding

I came across this beautiful coaster by Nectar Ale at a local pub and loved the color palette so much that had to create an inspiration board for it!  Just goes to show that your event inspiration can come from anywhere. Nectar Ale Coaster

Tool for DIY Designers

While searching for the perfect napkins for a client, I stumbled across this fun tool from BBJ Linens called the "Design Your Event Table" virtual tool.  It allows you to test out different tablecloths, napkins, chair types and chair accessories for your table design!

Perfect for those doing DIY design for their event  and you just can't decide on the pink tablecloth with the green napkins or the green tablecloth with the pink napkins.  Now, if they could just expand it to include flowers, chargers, silverware, glassware and menus!

Inspiration Board: Kyla & Jordan's Chic Wedding

This lovely couple is planning a gorgeous wedding this fall in New York City at Le Parker Meridien. The color palette is a progression of pure white for the ceremony to an ice blue for the cocktail hour and a bold navy/midnight blue for the reception accented with metallic touches. We're focusing on texture and color saturations to make things really stand out. Enjoy!

Inspiration Board: White on White

We created this beautiful white-on-white inspiration board with the following elements in mind:  texture, warm lighting and keeping things friendly and inviting.  So often an all-white color palette can end up looking sterile and bland.  But, by ensuring that we included those 3 elements and adding color with the food and drink, the result is anything but boring!
