A Brilliant Wedding: Liz and Chris

Liz and Chris we an amazing couple to work with! They truly wanted to create an unforgettable day, and make sure that all of their friends and family had the best time of their lives. The lovely couple decided to host on a beautiful evening in New Jersey at Chris's hometown Country Club. The attention to all details allowed for it to be a flawless and sophisticated Wedding. Although they were in New Jersey, Liz and Chris made sure to pay homage to their current hometown, New York City. During cocktail hour guests were able to sip on drinks decorated by New York Giants and New York Yankees drink stirrers, and when they made their way over to the reception, instead of traditional table numbers, each table was labeled with one of the couple's favorite NYC spot's. They had a beautiful tented reception accompanied by a maple wood dance floor, and lush floral arrangements were everywhere. The night was concluded with a sparkler send off for the Bride and Groom! We were thrilled to have Liz and Chris's Wedding featured on Style Me Pretty. If you missed it, make sure to check it out here. Congratulations Liz and Chris!

A Brilliant Wedding: Laili and Paul

Even on the most beautiful day a bride can become distressed, so you can imagine how impressed I was by Laili's upbeat and refreshingly relaxed demeanor on her wedding day, which happened to be the same day Hurricane Irene shut down Manhattan.  Public transportation may not have been working, but this didn't stop Laili and Paul, who live in Geneva, Switzerland, or their guests from making it to their gorgeous afternoon ceremony at St. Patrick's Cathedral.  The couple and their guests braved the coastal winds and headed to the Prince George Ballroom for the reception.  Laili is an interior designer and her design aesthetic is represented all throughout the sophisticated blue and orange decor.  Laili and Paul were introduced as husband and wife to the sounds of "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" by Stevie Wonder and Laili, who is of Persian heritage, shared a traditional Persian dance with her father.  No amount of rain or wind could have stopped the joyous feeling surrounding Laili and Paul's wedding day.  Congratulations Laili and Paul! Thanks to Jeff Tisman for the stunning photos.

A Brilliant Wedding: Bill & Christine

Christine and Bill got married on a warm, sunny day in September. Their fun and lighthearted nature was present in nearly every aspect of their wedding. They exchanged vows in a Catholic ceremony and Christine stole the show in her intricately designed Monique Lhuillier gown and a lace bolero handmade by her mother. Upon exiting the church, Christine and Bill were greeted by a sea of bubbles and headed to capture some carefree photos on the beach, while guests headed to Giorgio’s to start the festivities.  They kicked off the party with their first dance "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis and continued the party late into the evening. It was an absolute joy to be a part of their big day! Special thanks to the super-talented Roberto Falck for perfectly capturing the spirit of these two lovebirds.

A Brilliant Wedding: Laura & Bryan

There are so many things that I loved about Laura & Bryan's wedding day.  From the contemporary reception setting of The Glasshouses, to the juxtaposition of the romantic florals by Blossom & Branch, their choice of chameleon chairs, the tiny but meaningful details that appeared at every turn throughout the day - everything came together to be perfectly 'them.' My favorite part was their choice of cocktail hour music.  Laura & Bryan decided on an acoustic set by their band, The Benjamins.  Tunes from the early 90s were the musical backdrop - music that the bride and groom actually listened to when they met in college and still have on their iPods to this day.  It created an environment that was relaxed but elegant, approachable yet refined - just like the lovely bride and groom.

I'm also proud to share that their wedding was recently a feature on Style Me Pretty! Thank you to this wonderful couple for letting me be part of their day, it was truly an honor.

Side Buns: Timeless or Trendy?

The 1980s were the times of banana clips, mini skirts and classic Madonna, when most brides were of the mindset that bigger was better – especially when it came to wedding hair! Giant mall bangs, huge tendrils and perms were what every bride dreamed of. One of the hottest wedding hairstyle trends of the past few years is the side bun, a modern twist on the classic bun. Will the side bun prove to be timeless or will it be an indication of the decade, like big eighties hair? What do you think?
