A Brilliant Wedding: Abbie & Joon

Abbie & Joon were so much fun to work with because they gave us complete creative freedom! Both the bride and the groom are scientists and wanted to incorporate their passions  into their special day. They chose to hold their wedding in a library and special library lamps were brought in to further set the scene. The couple's escort cards were miniature books that included their love story - written by a former New York Times writer! Each book also contained a "library card" on which guests could write a  piece of advice for the couple to add to their "card catalogue". The couple chose to have two specialty cocktails. The groom's cocktail was served in beakers and the bride's in English-style tea cups to represent her British upbringing. At the end of the night, guests were treated to an amazing dessert display: an enormous, custom-made periodic table of elements made of macaroons! After guests signed the couple's globe guestbook, they grabbed test tubes full of chocolate to take home as a favor.

We are so honored and excited to have Abbie & Joon's wedding featured in the New York Magazine's fall wedding issue! Pick up a copy of the magazine to see the full article.

Congratulations to Abbie & Joon!

A Brilliant Wedding: Tiffany and Roger

Tiffany and Roger wanted a festive wedding with an authentic Mexican feel and Maroma Resort and Spa in Riviera Maya, Mexico was the perfect location for their intimate and lively destination wedding.  The weather may have prevented them from having a beachfront ceremony, but the spa provided an equally as beautiful and serene backdrop for Tiffany and Roger's early evening ceremony.  The couple exited down an aisle lined with lush bouquets of white roses and tropical flowers while "Marry You" by Bruno Mars played.  The simple floral touches continued into the reception where guests enjoyed the amazing party that Tiffany and Roger wished for.  Tiffany and Roger's wedding day was just as lovely as the happy couple who is expecting their first child.  Congratulations Tiffany and Roger! Thanks to Daniel Aguilar for the amazing photos.

Destination Wedding Reception

Beware of Sunsets

Every bride and groom dream of a great party at their wedding reception, and in most cases, that dream includes a packed dancefloor.  Keep the dancefloor full by planning your reception start time with sunset in mind - this is especially important in the summer months when the sun doesn't go down until around 8:30pm. Think about it: your favorite club doesn't have fluorescent lightbulbs or natural light streaming in because people prefer to dance in darker, ambient atmospheres.  Too much light makes people self conscious and shy, and your dancefloor will be anemic as a result.  Also, any candlelight you've used in your decor won't have any impact if your reception space is flooded with natural light.  If your venue has any kind of windows, use this sunset calculator to determine when the sun will go down and schedule your reception accordingly.
